Happy New Year! I started off the year silent on s Happy New Year! I started off the year silent on social media, largely because I wanted to take some time to re-calibrate after a whirlwind 2021 with lots of high highs, and some not so high lows.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One of my biggest struggles as a freelancer is that I sometimes find myself taking on projects that aren't a great fit. These are usually the projects where I'm brought on as a developer rather than making the client connection myself. And truth be told, I ended the year with a project that compromised my physical and mental health in ways that I refuse to experience again.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So, what does that look like? It looks like saying no to projects that don't feel right. It looks like sticking to my boundaries regardless of how nice a client is. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
•⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I started off the year by firing the client I ended the last year with. They made up around 10% of my income for the year, so I waffled a bit, with my exit email sitting in drafts for a few days before I hit send. But, ultimately, it feels like a huge weight off my shoulder, and I've already filled their slot with projects for a client who respects my time (and pays even better, anyway)!
